Chapter 9 - The basement room had two cots
Police initially reported one cot.
That was because a folded frame lay beneath blankets against the wall.
When opened, it was a second narrow cot.
Two people.
At some point.
Not necessarily simultaneously.
They found two toothbrushes.
Different brands.
One strand of dark hair.
One strand of Emily’s blonde hair.
DNA later confirmed Emily had been in the room.
The other profile did not match anyone in the family database.
That meant there really had been a second captive.
Still no identity.
Still no location.
Then they found handwriting on the back of a food wrapper.
