Evelyn deliberately poured half a carton of milk into the sink.
Then later told Daniel I had refused to buy groceries she liked.
Clip five.
She unplugged the Wi-Fi router.
Then told him I disabled it because she had been talking to her sister too much.
Clip six.
She moved her own cardigan into the garage storage cabinet.
The next evening, in front of Daniel, she cried:
“Claire keeps taking my things.”
That one broke him.
He stopped the video.
“She hid her own sweater?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Watch.”
Thirty minutes later in the same recording, Evelyn sat on the sofa and called her sister Judith.
“I need Daniel to see that this house is becoming impossible.”
Pause.
“No. I don’t know what he’ll do.”
Pause.
“If Claire looks unstable enough, he’ll stop listening to her.”
Daniel closed his eyes.
