Chapter 26 - MY MOTHER’S SHADOW BOXThe original frame could not be repaired.

The photograph could.
The recipe card survived.
The dried flower mostly disintegrated.
I kept two petals.
For two years everything remained in an archival box because I could not decide what to do.
Then Rebecca helped me build a new shadow box.
Smaller.
Simpler.
I put in:
Mom’s photograph.
Recipe card.
Two flower petals.
Silver button.
And one new thing.
A note in my own handwriting:
She was here.
Daniel watched me hang it.
Not in the living room.
My office.
He asked:
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
May you like
No camera pointed at it.
No need.
