Chapter 22 - DANIEL AND MEOur marriage nearly ended anyway.
Not because of Evelyn.
Because of what happened around her.
I did not trust Daniel’s judgment.
He did not trust that I would tell him before turning our home into evidence.
We separated for seven weeks.
He stayed in an apartment.
Evelyn had already moved elsewhere, so I lived alone in the house.
People thought separation meant Evelyn won.
That made me furious.
Then our therapist said:
“Stop organizing your marriage around whether Evelyn wins.”
Correct.
Daniel and I returned because we wanted to.
Slowly.
Conditions:
No parent moving into our home without both agreeing.
No secret security recording except genuine emergency need.
No using cognitive diagnoses as automatic explanations.
No grabbing.
No threats.
No triangulation.
If one of us said:
“I need a third party,”
we called one.
