My assault case ended without trial.
I completed:
Six anger-management sessions.
A conflict-resolution program.
No-contact compliance.
Community service.
The charge was dismissed under the diversion terms available in my jurisdiction.
Sarah wrote that she did not seek harsher punishment.
That helped.
I apologized to her directly in mediation.
“I am sorry I slapped you.”
She waited.
I added:
“I was furious after you hit Olivia, but you were no longer touching her. I should have taken the children and left.”
Sarah nodded.
Then:
“I accept that.”
No hug.
No erasing her own conduct.
