Brian had held Jake’s arms despite the boy repeatedly asking to be released.
Scott controlled his legs.
Neither struck him.
Neither understood the financial documents fully at the moment.
Both eventually accepted misdemeanor-level assault or unlawful-restraint-related resolutions, depending on how the conduct was characterized through plea agreements.
Probation.
Parenting or violence-prevention programming despite neither being Jake’s parent.
No contact with Jake unless future family court and parents allowed it.
Brian also faced separate financial scrutiny because his business benefited from one questionable instrument.
Evidence did not prove he created false documents.
He agreed to financial restitution obligations in related civil proceedings.
Scott’s financial conduct was mostly legitimate.
His moral failure was simpler.
