Chapter 12 - I post the message

I made a mistake.
A large one.
My mother’s text:
I told Vanessa to handle Emma before you came downstairs.
I posted a screenshot to a private family Facebook group.
Caption:
For everyone telling me Mom had nothing to do with it.
Within an hour, someone shared it outside.
Then outside again.
Soon local social media described Diane as:
“Grandmother orders aunt to attack toddler.”
Not supported.
I was furious at Diane.
But she had not texted:
Hit Emma.
She had told Vanessa to handle a conflict before I came downstairs.
Bad.
Secretive.
Controlling.
Not identical to ordering violence.
Vanessa’s lawyer seized on the post.
Rachel is poisoning the public.
Rachel is framing ordinary words as conspiracy.
My attorney—whom I hired after the hospital—said:
“Delete it.”
I did.
Too late.
He added:
“Understandable is not useful.”
I heard almost the same phrase from every competent lawyer eventually.
I apologized later for the public implication.
Not for preserving the text.
Not for believing Diane bore responsibility.
May you like
For implying a fact not yet established.
Accuracy became important because exaggeration would only help Vanessa.
