Emma’s clavicle healed without surgery.
Four-year-old bones can be forgiving.
The concussion symptoms lasted longer.
Headaches.
Irritability.
One episode of vomiting.
Light sensitivity for a few days.
The pediatric neurologist expected full recovery.
And she did recover.
No permanent brain injury.
No learning disability attributable to the incident.
No lifelong paralysis.
I was grateful.
I also refused to let good recovery minimize the act.

No blood.
