Chapter 15 - PATRICIA MEETS GRACE
I did not want Patricia near my baby.
Then my therapist asked:
“Is Patricia a present danger to Grace?”
I hated that question.
Patricia had participated in deceiving me.
She had also turned over the recording.
Could both be true?
Yes.
I agreed to one supervised visit.
Patricia held Grace and cried.
“I don’t deserve this.”
I did not reassure her.
Good.
She whispered:
“I thought if you signed, Oscar’s business would survive and he’d stop panicking.”
“That was worth my home?”
“No.”
“You acted like it was.”
“Yes.”
Then:
“He scared me too.”
I looked at her.
“Did he hit you?”
“No.”
“Threaten?”
“Not like you.”
“Then?”
“He kept saying if I didn’t help, I’d be the reason Grace grew up with a bankrupt father.”
