Chapter 25 - OSCAR AND GRACE

By the time Grace was eighteen months old, Oscar had progressed to unsupervised daytime parenting under structured orders after evaluations found no evidence he posed direct physical danger to her.

I hated the first day.

I packed six diapers for four hours.

Three bottles.

Two outfits.

Medication she did not need.

Ray watched.

“You planning for winter?”

“No.”

“In July?”

“Shut up.”

Oscar arrived.

He stood outside.

Did not enter.

Good.

Grace reached toward him.

She knew him now.

I handed her over.

My hands shook.

Oscar said:

“I’ll have her back at two.”

“Two.”

He did.

1:54.

That did not erase anything.

It was one correct action.

Recovery is full of those.
