Oscar’s plan had family involvement.
But not the conspiracy I first imagined.
Patricia knew about the authorization.
She witnessed it.
She knew Oscar wanted the condo involved in refinancing.
She knew he intended to change locks.
She objected weakly.
Then helped anyway.
She did not know he had already drafted a custody filing.
She did not know he photographed me outside the hospital.
She did not know the exact threat he texted.
Oscar’s cousin knew the company needed collateral.
He did not know how Oscar planned to obtain mine.
The accountant knew Oscar expected spousal support.
He assumed I agreed.
There was no room full of villains plotting against a woman in labor.
There was something more realistic.
One controlling man.
One frightened mother who crossed ethical lines to protect her son.
Several professionals receiving incomplete information.
And me.
A wife who spent too long accepting:
He’s stressed.
He’s scared.
He’ll explain.
