Chapter 5 - THE LOCKSMITH
The locksmith came at 11:06 that morning.
Four hours after Grace was born.
Teresa obtained the invoice the next day.
Customer:
Oscar Vega.
Property authorization:
Resident representative.
Supporting document:
Limited Property and Residential Authorization.
My signature.
The locksmith did not know I had not authorized changing the lock against myself.
Oscar said:
“My wife is hospitalized and we need to secure the unit before discharge.”
Why?
“Former roommate has key.”
There was no former roommate.
The locksmith replaced the cylinder.
Gave Oscar four keys.
Oscar then emailed the HOA.
He attached the same authorization.
Requested temporary suspension of my digital building-entry credential because:
“Medical privacy and postpartum rest require centralized visitor management.”
My access card.
Suspended.
Using my signature as support.
That was why his text sounded so confident.
