Chapter 17 - THE LOCKOUT ORDER

The property court granted temporary exclusive occupancy to me pending divorce/property proceedings.

Not ownership determination—the deed already showed title.

Occupancy.

Oscar had to surrender keys.

Restore access.

Return my belongings.

No dramatic sheriff throwing him into the street instantly.

A scheduled turnover.

Police standby available.

I returned with Ray and Teresa.

Oscar was gone.

The condo looked almost normal.

Grace’s crib assembled.

Diapers stacked.

A tiny stuffed rabbit on the dresser.

Oscar had finished the nursery.

That broke me.

On our bedroom nightstand sat my shoes from the hospital bag.

He had placed them neatly together.

I sat on the bed and cried.

Ray stood in the doorway.

“Want me to pack his stuff?”

“No.”

“Want me to?”

“No.”

I needed to do some things myself.

May you like

Not everything.

Some.
