Elena demanded to go.

Inside, police found Serena’s financial server, medical equipment, and walls covered with photographs of Elena’s life.

Serena had watched her for years.
A large photograph showed Elena and Isabelle side by side at similar ages.

“You tried to kill Noah.”
“No. My mother saved him.”
“You ordered his transfer.”
“To force the hospital to expose who could sign for you.”
“You helped Victor push me.”
“I gave him choices.”
“He chose murder. You prepared every condition around it.”
Serena’s calm broke.
“Adrian prepared the first condition thirty years ago.”
She opened the defect ledger.
Isabelle’s signature appeared on the original mountain-equipment contract. She had approved the supplier after Caleb presented falsified safety reports.
When she learned the truth, she planned to confess publicly and accept responsibility.
Adrian begged her to wait until the company could repay affected families.
Caleb feared prison.
Judge Sloan feared exposure.
Everyone had a motive to silence her.
“Who caused the avalanche?” Elena asked.
“There was no natural avalanche.”
Serena produced an engineering report showing explosives had been planted above the pass.
The detonation buried Isabelle’s car.
The authorization code belonged to Cross Alpine’s mountain safety division.
Adrian’s credentials opened the equipment locker.
Caleb’s signature approved the transport.
Judge Sloan sealed the investigation.
The evidence implicated all three men.
Serena claimed she targeted Victor because he resembled them—ambitious enough to rationalize anything when offered control.
“You wanted him to repeat the crime.”
“I wanted proof that the system creates the same men.”
“You used my body to make a point.”
Serena looked toward Elena’s hospital image.
“Yes.”
No grief could make that forgivable.
Nora ordered Serena to step away from the ledger.
Before she moved, every light inside the lodge failed.
A recorded voice filled the darkness.
Caleb.
“Serena, you were never supposed to surrender.”
Emergency shutters sealed the archive.
Gas began entering through the vents.
Serena’s expression changed.
Her father was willing to kill her to preserve the remaining evidence.
On Elena’s screen, the lodge feed distorted.
Before it vanished, Serena shouted one sentence:
“Caleb is already inside Adrian’s hospital.”
Elena turned toward her father.
Adrian was no longer beside her bed.
