Rebecca claimed Caleb controlled most of the financial system.

“You told Serena Adrian killed Isabelle,” the prosecutor said.
“I believed his choices caused her death.”
“You knew Isabelle was alive.”
“I meant the public woman she had been.”
“Did Serena understand that distinction as a child?”
“No.”
“You allowed her to believe Elena possessed the life stolen from her?”
“Yes.”
Rebecca’s love for Isabelle had complicated everything. She had admired her as a friend, resented Adrian, and spent decades protecting the woman while also ensuring Isabelle depended upon the Vale family.
When Isabelle considered contacting Elena, Rebecca warned that Adrian would take Gabriel.
When Gabriel considered leaving the medical program, Rebecca warned that Isabelle would lose treatment.

Rebecca pleaded guilty to identity fraud, obstruction, falsification of death records, unlawful handling of medical information, and conspiracy involving the surrogate program.
She was convicted after trial of reckless endangerment for her role in Serena’s preparation of Elena’s attack. Evidence did not prove Rebecca knew Victor would push Elena, but she knew Serena was constructing another Catastrophe Rider around a pregnant woman.
She was acquitted of attempted murder and of intentionally killing Clara.
Her repeated rescues, cooperation, age, and surrender reduced the sentence. The decades of control increased it.
Rebecca received a significant custodial term followed by supervision.
At sentencing, Serena appeared through a secure connection.
“Did you ever imagine me becoming anything except the person who punished Adrian?”
Rebecca cried.
“Yes.”
“When?”
“When you were born.”
“And after?”
Rebecca could not identify a year.
Isabelle submitted no request for mercy.
She stated:
“Rebecca saved my life. I later allowed gratitude to become a reason I did not challenge what she did to our children.”
The sentence did not require Isabelle to hate her.
It did not require Clara’s family to honor the rescue.
Rebecca’s lawful personal property remained hers after restitution. Criminal accounts funded victims.
She died years later in medical custody.
Serena visited once.
Gabriel did not.
Isabelle wrote letters but attended no final bedside meeting.

His attorneys argued that Cross Alpine’s continued employment, pensions, and rescue infrastructure outweighed the old fraud.
Thousands of workers feared his conviction would destroy the company.
