Chapter 15 - WHAT ROSIE REMEMBEREDThe forensic interview happened in a child-friendly room.
No police uniforms.
No leading questions.
Rosie was asked to describe the party.
She talked about cake first.
Caleb’s dinosaur.
A balloon that popped.
Then:
“Aunt Bethany got mad.”
Why?
“I broke the green dinosaur.”
Did she mean intentionally?
“No. I said sorry.”
What happened next?
Bethany told Rosie she cried too much.
Then Bethany took the suction darts.
“She put them on me.”
Where?
Rosie pointed to her arms.
“She pulled them.”
Did Rosie ask her to stop?
“Yes.”
What did Bethany say?
“Big girls don’t cry.”
Then Bethany pressed another suction cup near Rosie’s upper arm.
Rosie tried to run.
Bethany caught her.
Rosie screamed.
Bethany struck her cheek.
Open hand.
Once.
Rosie ran into the bathroom.
Did anybody else see?
“Grandma saw me crying.”
What did Grandma do?

“She said stop making Aunt Bethany mad.”
That line never appeared in Mom’s first statement.
