Chapter 14 - THE SAMPLE LABELED DAVIDThe paternal swab came from David’s toothbrush.

At least according to Eleanor.
She admitted taking it from our house the morning after he died.

She had entered our bathroom.
Taken my dead husband’s toothbrush.
Bagged it.
Sent it to a private laboratory.
Without asking me.
Why?
She said:
“A mother knows when something is wrong.”
No.
A mother had become suspicious because she found fertility treatment and decided privacy was evidence of betrayal.
Could a toothbrush produce usable DNA?
Potentially.
Could anyone prove the toothbrush belonged only to David?
Not perfectly.
It had been in our bathroom.
