That was important.
His death did not become another conspiracy.
He suffered an aortic dissection while driving home from work.
He managed to pull onto the shoulder.
A passing nurse called 911.
He reached the hospital alive.
He died in surgery.
From the first call to death:
Five hours.
I was with him for two.
He was conscious long enough to say:
“Baby?”
“Fine.”
“You?”
“Not fine.”
He smiled.
Then:
“Tell the tiny tenant rent is due.”
Those were almost his last clear words to me.
I had no idea he had already spent months arranging evidence for a parentage fight.
No idea Eleanor knew enough to start one.
No idea Chloe had been searching his private office.
