Education.
Long-term trust protections.
The Bennett shares were harder.
The old shareholder agreement had inconsistent language from amendments drafted across twenty years.
One section allowed transfer to “lineal descendants.”
Another restrictive provision used “blood descendants.”
David’s newer trust attempted to transfer beneficial interests while independent trustees held voting rights.
Eleanor argued this violated restrictions.
The board did not want years of litigation.
Neither did I.
Neither did Grace, though she was primarily interested in milk.
Negotiations started.
Not surrender.
