That mattered.
He identified the clinic.
Dates.
Consent documents.
The trust amendment.
The intended-parent language.
Then he said:
“My estate plan deliberately uses the phrase ‘my child conceived with Sarah during our marriage, including through assisted reproduction with my written consent.’”
Sterling passed copies of the signed instrument across the table.
Eleanor’s attorney began reading immediately.
David continued:
“My Bennett shares are to pass into the Child Continuity Trust if the child is born alive, subject to the shareholder agreement and applicable law. Sarah is not to receive those shares outright.”
That surprised Eleanor.
Maybe she assumed I wanted company control.
I didn’t.
David had structured voting rights with an independent trustee until our child reached adulthood.
He knew the company.
Knew his mother.
Knew me.
Then David looked at the camera.
“Mom, if you are hearing this, biology is not a license to humiliate my wife.”
Eleanor sobbed.
“Chloe, if you are hearing this, return anything you took from Sarah.”
My eyes moved toward Chloe.
My ring.
She went still.
David could not have known about the funeral theft.
So what had he meant?
Sterling paused the video.
Chloe said:
“Don’t.”

Everyone looked at her.
There was another thing she had taken.
