Chapter 25 - The first unsupervised visit
Arthur’s parenting time expanded slowly.
Supervised center.
Then supervised by Rachel.
Then short daytime visits without a monitor after consistent compliance and court review.
No automatic overnight.
No quick forgiveness because he was Dad.
He did the boring work.
Arrived.
Fed Elise.
Changed diapers badly.
Learned her allergies.
Followed schedules.
Did not bring Victoria.
Did not speak badly about me.
When Elise was three, the court allowed his first unsupervised six-hour visit.
I hated it.
My body reacted as though I were watching the steam-room lock close again.
Tessa said:
“Your fear is information. It is not always instruction.”
I let Elise go.
Arthur brought her back ten minutes early.
She had glitter glue on her sleeve.
“Daddy let me use too much.”
Arthur said:
“Accurate.”
