Chapter 3 - THE FOOTAGE FROM THE BLUE ROOM The HOUSE folder contained eighty-nine short recordings.

Elena had filmed most of them secretly through the opening of her purse.
The first showed Evelyn Mercer entering the blue room with a tray of food.
Luke’s mother wore an immaculate cream suit and carried herself with the cold confidence that had intimidated board members for decades.
“Elena, this separation is necessary,” Evelyn said. “Luke is not thinking clearly.”
“I need to speak to him.”
“He does not wish to speak to you.”
“That isn’t true.”
Evelyn placed the tray on the bedside cabinet.
“You are pregnant, frightened, and confused. Adrian has arranged proper supervision.”
Elena moved the purse slightly.
The video captured a keypad on the outside of the bedroom door.
“You locked me in.”
“We limited your access after you attempted to leave during a medical episode.”
“I tried to leave because you took my phone.”
Evelyn’s expression did not change.
“You will understand once the company is secure.”
Luke stopped the recording.
“My mother knew she was being held.”
Marco nodded.
“She may claim it was medical protection.”
“She took away the door.”
The next video showed Adrian.
He stood beside Elena’s bed holding a legal document.
“The pregnancy triggers an automatic audit at twenty weeks,” he told her. “Sign the postponement agreement, and you can contact Luke.”
“What audit?”
“Something our father placed inside the succession trust.”
“I don’t control Luke’s company.”
“The child will.”
Adrian explained that Luke’s first biological child would receive a protected block of Mercer Industries voting shares. At twenty weeks, an independent trustee would begin reviewing every financial obligation created by current executives.
Adrian had borrowed heavily against company assets.
The audit would expose him.
Elena refused to sign.
Adrian leaned closer.
“Then the pregnancy cannot reach the trigger date.”
Luke closed his eyes.
Marco continued watching.
The final footage showed an unidentified woman entering with a medical case. Only her gloved hands appeared. She checked Elena’s pulse, replaced prenatal vitamins, and added clear liquid to a glass of water.
A gold bracelet shifted beneath her sleeve.
Luke recognized the Mercer crest engraved on it.
The bracelets had been given to only four women:
Elena.
Evelyn.
Luke’s late grandmother.
And Adrian’s wife, Celeste.
Celeste had left the United States six months earlier—or so Adrian claimed.
Marco checked immigration records.
“No departure appears under her passport.”
Luke opened the second folder.
MONEY contained account statements showing Adrian had moved more than seventy million dollars through Mercer Family Services. Evelyn had approved several transfers, believing they funded private acquisitions.
A third signature appeared repeatedly.
L. Mercer.
Luke’s name.
His signature looked perfect.
He had never signed the documents.
Dr. Bennett entered before they opened the BABY folder.
“Elena’s bloodwork shows repeated exposure to sedatives and an appetite suppressant. Someone was keeping her weak.”
“Will the baby survive?” Luke asked.
“The heartbeat is stable, but both of them remain in danger.”
Elena stirred at the sound of his voice.
Luke sat beside her.
Her eyes opened slowly.
“Luke?”
“I’m here.”
Tears filled her eyes.
“I tried to get back to you.”
“I know.”
She looked toward Marco, then the security camera, then the door.
“They can still enter.”
“Who?”
Elena’s fingers tightened around Luke’s.

“The woman with your mother’s bracelet.”
👉 The videos implicated Evelyn and Adrian, but Elena feared a third Mercer woman who was never supposed to be in the country.
