Chapter 6 - DEREK’S FIRST DEFENSEDerek denied intentionally breaking my arm.

Through counsel, he said:
We argued.
I threw a glass.
He tried to stop me leaving.
I slipped.
My arm hit the vanity.
Then I locked myself in the bathroom.
He forced the door because he believed I was injured and might hurt myself.
The phrase:
“No one’s coming to save you”
was, according to him, taken out of context.
Context:
He meant no one needed to save me because I was “hysterical.”
That was his version.
The bathroom told another story.
Blood on the vanity edge.
My broken phone charger ripped from the wall.
A wineglass broken in the kitchen.
Yes.
I had thrown it.
At the wall.
Not at Derek.
I admitted that.
Bad behavior.
Not an invitation to fracture my arm.
Building hallway footage showed me running into the bathroom.
Derek following thirty seconds later.
Then twenty-one impacts against the door over approximately four minutes.
The recording from my 911-connected call to Vincent had captured:
No one’s coming to save you.
My crying.
The door breaking.
Derek saying:
“There you are.”

No perfect view of the assault that happened before the bathroom.
Enough context to make “concerned husband performing rescue” difficult.
