Chapter 13 - ELEANOR’S LOANEleanor eventually admitted the $125,000 loan.

She had mortgaged a small investment condo to provide the money.

Why?

Julian told her his company had a temporary liquidity problem.

He did not tell her the full guarantee exposure.

He promised repayment after “the townhouse transition.”

Eleanor assumed I had agreed to sell.

At least that was her claim.

Then messages surfaced.

ELEANOR:

Audrey still refusing?

JULIAN:

For now.

ELEANOR:

She will come around once she understands the numbers.

JULIAN:

She thinks the house is sacred because her mother’s money went into it.

ELEANOR:

Then stop arguing emotionally. Make it practical.

Later:

ELEANOR:

If she won’t sell, you need another way to access your share.

There.

She knew I had not agreed.

Did she tell Julian to hit me?

No.

No evidence of that.

Did she help pressure me financially?

Yes.

Did she believe the house was partly morally his after marriage?

Absolutely.

Her role was enablement and self-interest.

Not mastermind.

That distinction stayed.
