Chapter 24 - Noah Sees Grant in Dallas

Noah was nine when he chose his first Dallas weekend.
Two years after the punch.
Grant had earned unsupervised contact through compliance.
No violations.
Therapy.
Regular calls.
No pressure.
No relocation talk.
No Logan during visit.
I took Noah to airport.
He asked:
“Can I come home early?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“Dad puts you on next reasonable flight, and I come get you.”
“Even if I’m just homesick?”
“Yes.”
He nodded.
Then:
“Dad sad?”
“Dad manages Dad.”
Good.
No child emotion management.
The weekend went well.
Grant took him to aquarium.
No toughness lessons.
No “you’re the man now.”
At night Noah called me.
“Dad snores.”
Apparently all family repair stories end with snoring.
“Do you want home?”
“No.”
“Okay.”
Then:
“He let me cry.”
My chest tightened.
“Why were you crying?”
“Movie.”
Grant had chosen a dog movie.
Amateur mistake.
“What happened?”
“He gave tissue.”
“That’s it?”
“Yeah.”
No lesson.
May you like
No embarrassment.
Sometimes repair is tissue.
