Chapter 14 - What I missed

The investigation forced me to list warning signs.
Pippa suddenly hated the backyard.
I thought bees.
She stopped wanting to play near Bruno’s old kennel.
I thought grief about the dog.
She once asked whether I could take the kennel away.
I said:
“One weekend.”
Never did.
She started packing snacks into her bedroom.
Camilla called it sneaking food.
A therapist later suggested it might have been connected to fear of being locked outside after dinner.
Pippa became intensely upset when I rolled my suitcase from the closet.
I interpreted separation anxiety.
Correct.
Incomplete.
There were signs.
None individually screamed what was happening.
