Chapter 25 - The kennel comes down

I removed the kennel four months after the case resolved.
Not immediately.
Police had documented it.
Attorneys had inspected it.
Eventually it was released from any evidence hold.
I thought about smashing it myself.
That would have felt satisfying for five minutes.
Instead I hired a contractor.
He unbolted the panels.
Loaded the metal into a trailer.
Pippa watched from the kitchen window.
“Where is it going?”
“Recycling.”
“Will it be another cage?”
“Maybe another metal thing.”
She thought.
“Can it be a swing?”
“I don’t think recycling works by request.”
“Ask.”
I told the contractor.
He laughed.
“I’ll put in a good word.”
May you like
Pippa smiled.
That was ceremony enough.
