Chapter 10 - The Secret Inside the BraceletSecurity moved toward Dr. Voss.

She raised both hands.

“I came voluntarily.”

Detective Quinn arrived from the lobby and ordered everyone to remain inside the boardroom.

Anna stood beside the surgeon.

The resemblance between them was slight, but the emotional bond was obvious. Anna trusted her.

Victoria clutched her bracelet.

“What did you do to my daughter?”

Dr. Voss smiled without warmth.

“Which one?”

The question unsettled everyone.

Lila’s DNA proved she was Victoria’s child. Anna’s claim had not yet been tested. Dr. Voss seemed confident both could be true in different ways.

She asked Victoria to open the bracelet’s hidden compartment.

The hospital tag slid into her palm.

Dr. Voss requested ultraviolet light.

Under it, the numbers from Walter’s scan appeared.

417-22-05.

A second line emerged below them.

A series of musical notes.

Victoria recognized the melody.

Blue Moon.

The song was not merely a private memory. It had been encoded into the tag.

Anyone who possessed the bracelet could learn the answer to Victoria’s question.

Anna looked betrayed.

“You said my mother told you.”

Dr. Voss touched her arm.

“Your history is more complicated.”

The bracelet she carried was examined.

Its metal composition matched a batch produced for St. Catherine’s Hospital, but the gold charm had been manufactured three years after Amelia’s disappearance.

Anna’s token was a later copy.

The hidden tag inside it displayed the same song code.

Walter or Voss had trained her for this moment.

Anna turned toward the surgeon.

“Am I an Ashford?”

Dr. Voss remained silent.

Detective Quinn ordered DNA collection.

Anna resisted until Lila stepped forward.

“You deserve the truth even if they created the lie.”

The words softened something in her.

She agreed.

While the laboratory processed the sample, Elaine examined the original bracelet. The gold star contained another seam beneath the first compartment.

A jeweler opened it carefully.

Inside was a strip of photographic film no wider than thread.

The images showed Room 417 on the night of Amelia’s disappearance.

Victoria stood beside one bassinet.

A nurse moved another infant into the room.

Dr. Voss appeared between them.

The final frame showed two bracelets resting on a tray.

One five-point star.

One north star.

Ethan leaned closer.

“My bracelet.”

The film documented both children inside Room 417.

Amelia and Ethan.

But Ethan had been born fourteen months later according to his records.

Either the date was false or the second infant was someone else intended to become him.

The film’s edge carried a hospital batch number.

Records linked it to a security camera used during a confidential research program called Project Constellation.

Dr. Voss’s expression changed when Quinn said the name.

“What was it?” Lila asked.

The surgeon looked toward Anna.

“A succession-security study funded by wealthy families.”

Children connected to major trusts were assigned unique medical markers, tokens, and biometric files. Officially, the system protected heirs from kidnapping.

In practice, it gave administrators the ability to confirm, substitute, or erase identities.

Edmund Vale chaired the project.

Walter learned how to exploit it.

Dr. Voss claimed she tried to stop them.

“You created the scars,” Victoria said.

“I created medical markers.”

“On children who did not need them?”

“I was told they faced threats.”

Anna’s eyes filled.

“You marked me.”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“To protect Amelia.”

Anna laughed bitterly.

“So I was the shield.”

The phrase from Elena’s photograph returned.

One heir.

One shield.

The DNA result arrived.

Anna was not Victoria’s biological daughter.

But she shared a maternal family connection with Ethan.

The probability suggested Anna and Ethan were half-siblings or first cousins.

Ethan looked toward Dr. Voss.

“Rebecca Cole?”

The surgeon nodded.

“Anna is Rebecca’s daughter.”

“Then who am I?”

Dr. Voss’s face tightened.

“You are not the child Rebecca delivered.”

Ethan stopped breathing.

The adoption file had linked him to Rebecca because someone placed her genetic material in his record.

His identity was another substitution.

The film, bracelets, and altered birth dates had been designed to make children interchangeable within Project Constellation.

Detective Quinn moved toward Dr. Voss.

“Where is Walter?”

“He is trying to reach. Voss.

“Where is Walter?”

“He the original registry before you do.”

“Where?”

“The demolished upper floors of St. Catherine’s were not demolished completely. Part of the tower remains beneath the new foundation building.”

The surgeon looked directly at Lila.

“Walter believes the registry contains the name of the person who ordered your kidnapping.”

“And does it?”

“Yes.”

“Who?”

Dr. Voss smiled sadly.

“Someone Victoria still calls family.”

👉 The bracelet exposed Project Constellation, proving Lila was the true Ashford heir while revealing Ethan’s identity had also been fabricated by someone inside Victoria’s family.
