Chapter 18 - The Daughter in WhiteEvelyn denied remembering another daughter.

Her medical records from the boarding school showed two pregnancies.
The first produced Julian.
The second, three years later, ended in a supposed miscarriage before Evelyn met Thomas.
Beatrice signed both records.
DNA archives inside the vault contained a female sample labeled PRICE-MASON DAUGHTER.
The current identity was hidden.
Clara now had an older half-sister connected to Samuel.
Julian had a full sister.
Beatrice may have raised both.
Everwhite employee files narrowed the possibilities.
Several women of the correct age held senior roles.
One stood out.
Catherine Price, director of ceremonial design.
She had overseen Clara’s wedding gown alterations.
Catherine never appeared personally at Bellemont, but every seam instruction carried her approval.
She prepared the dress to tear.
She also selected the white flowers, bridal suite layout, and ownership-folder delivery timing.
The hidden sister may have designed Clara’s humiliation.
Julian recognized Catherine from childhood.
Beatrice introduced her as an aunt.
“She was the only person who was kind to me without asking for anything.”
Clara looked at him.
“You don’t know that yet.”
They found Catherine at Everwhite’s New York headquarters.
She surrendered without resistance.
DNA confirmed she was Evelyn and Samuel’s daughter.
Catherine looked at Evelyn through the interview-room glass.
“She remembers none of us.”
Evelyn entered slowly.
“I’m sorry.”
Catherine laughed once.
“Everyone says that after the system stops benefiting them.”
“I was a child.”
“So was I.”
Beatrice raised Catherine as a designer rather than heir because Meridian Crown valued her ability to create symbolic clothing and ceremonial environments.
She encoded trackers, sensors, and legal tokens into dresses.
Clara’s gown was her masterpiece.
“Did you know I was your sister?” Clara asked.
“Before the fitting.”
“And you still weakened Mom’s lace.”
“I needed the tracker exposed.”
“You could have told me.”
“Samuel monitored every contact.”
“You keep explaining method when I’m asking about choice.”
Catherine’s eyes hardened.
“I chose the only route that could open the vault.”
The same belief as Rachel in another family.
Pain produced strategists who treated consent as delay.
Catherine claimed she wanted Meridian Crown destroyed.
She collaborated with Thomas and Leonard secretly. The prepared tear allowed them to trace Samuel.
Patricia’s cruelty was expected but not controlled.
“You knew she would attack me.”
“I knew Beatrice trained her to establish dominance publicly.”
“So you used her worst instincts.”
“Yes.”
Catherine showed no apology yet.
Julian asked about Samuel.
“He never treated us as children,” she said. “We were branches.”
Beatrice remained alive in a mobile medical unit.
Samuel planned to transfer the vault before she died.
Catherine could locate him through a biometric thread hidden inside the copied wedding sleeve sent to Grace.
The thread now belonged to police evidence.
Naomi recovered it.
The signal pointed toward Washington, D.C.
A private ceremonial hall stood beneath an international family-law institute.
Samuel planned a final gathering of Meridian families.
Clara’s vault control made her the required presiding owner.
If she failed to attend, Samuel would release selected secrets and blame Bellemont.
Catherine offered to help disrupt the ceremony.
Clara refused to trust her fully but accepted technical information.
Andrew watched from outside the interview room.
The wedding had connected Clara to siblings, living parents, hidden founders, and crimes older than them all.
His own place in her life had become almost impossible to define.
“I should leave,” he said later.
Clara looked at him.
“Because we are related?”
“Because every time I stay, someone uses us.”
“That is still letting them decide.”
“What do you want?”
She could not answer.
Not yet.
Andrew nodded.
He would remain available to testify but stop asking for emotional certainty.
Before leaving Bellemont, he found his tuxedo inside the groom’s suite.
A white envelope waited in the pocket.
Catherine’s handwriting.
ANDREW, YOUR MOTHER WAS NOT MEANT TO SURVIVE THE WEDDING. ASK HER WHO TOOK HER PLACE AT THE ALTAR REHEARSAL.
Security reviewed rehearsal footage.
Patricia appeared near the altar.
But facial analysis showed the woman was not Patricia.
An identical-looking substitute wore her silver dress while the real Patricia met Samuel underground.
Patricia had a twin sister.

Another selected bride.
👉 Catherine admitted designing the dress trap to open the vault, while rehearsal footage revealed Patricia had an unknown twin who may still be working inside Meridian Crown.
