Sophie upset after hair-brushing dispute at home. Says stepmother says “pretty girls sit still.”
January:
Student asked whether parents can take toys away “forever” if children don’t apologize.
February:
Student reluctant to go home with stepmother after school. Settled after reassurance. No specific safety disclosure.
March:
Student states Claudia says father may send her to “strict school” if behavior continues.
No strict school existed.
I had never threatened one.
When the counselor had emailed me in March, I responded:
We’re working through normal blended-family adjustment. Please let me know if anything escalates.
Normal.
That word had done enormous work.
The counselor looked miserable when she spoke to investigators.
