There was no gum.
No lice.
No emergency trim.
Sophie refused the blue dress.
Claudia ordered her upstairs.
Sophie shouted:
“You’re not my mom.”
Claudia took away her tablet.
Sophie said:
“I don’t care.”
Claudia then told her she would cut her hair short before the charity dinner.
Sophie ran outside.
Claudia followed with kitchen scissors.
She told Sophie to sit.
Sophie refused.
Claudia grabbed her.
The first cut was small.
A threat made physical.
Sophie screamed.
Claudia expected surrender.
Instead Sophie kicked at the grass and tried to crawl away.
That resistance escalated Claudia.
She cut again.
And again.
By the time I came through the gate, it was no longer an impulsive snip.
It was punishment.
Not because long hair was dangerous.
