The article said I came home, saw my wife “giving my daughter a corrective haircut,” and attacked her.
Comments split predictably.
Monster stepmother.
Violent rich husband.
Spoiled child.
Abusive billionaire.
I was not a billionaire.
That correction became absurdly important to me for an hour.
Then Grace said:
“Do not respond.”
“I want to release the doorbell audio.”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because Sophie’s terror is not your press exhibit.”
That shut me up.
I had already failed Sophie by being absent.
I was not going to repair my reputation by turning her worst afternoon into content.
Halcyon’s board issued one sentence:
