My kick was reviewed as potential assault.
Witness audio, physical position, my immediate cessation of force, the scissors, and Sophie’s account supported my claim that I acted to stop an immediate threat.
The prosecutor ultimately declined to file a charge against me.
That did not mean every kick in the name of protection would be lawful.
It meant this one, in these circumstances, was not pursued.
Claudia’s case was different.
The strongest allegations involved assaultive conduct toward Sophie, reckless use of scissors near her head, minor physical injuries, and coercive punishment.
No attempted murder.
No kidnapping.
No life sentence.
The law did not need exaggeration.
The haircut itself was not criminal merely because Sophie disliked it.
The manner mattered.
Hair pulling.
Restraint.
Scissors causing skin injuries.
Continuing while she begged.
