Chapter 16 - The Table at the BackThe wedding planner stepped into the aisle.

Her name was Camille Ross, and she had spent fourteen hours protecting Felicity from every ordinary inconvenience.
Now she held a seating chart in trembling hands.
“I need to say something.”
Felicity turned sharply.
“No, you don’t.”
Camille continued.
“The original seating plan placed Jenna at the family table.”
Jenna looked toward the chart.
Felicity had told her there was no space near the front.
Camille pointed toward several handwritten changes.
“Three days ago, Felicity ordered me to move Jenna behind the largest centerpiece.”
Adrian looked at his bride.
“Why?”
Felicity’s voice became shrill.
“She creates tension.”
Camille swallowed.
“She also instructed the photographer not to include Jenna in family portraits.”
Richard sat down heavily.
Marianne covered her face.
Camille continued because stopping now would only protect the wrong person.
“Felicity asked the master of ceremonies to give her the microphone after dinner. She said she planned a joke about Jenna being unsuccessful.”
Jenna looked toward the abandoned microphone on the carpet.
The humiliation had been rehearsed.
Felicity wanted the guests laughing before Silas noticed her.
She wanted Jenna emotionally shaken, perhaps driven from the ballroom.
Instead, Jenna had answered with dignity.
I save people for a living. That’s enough.
Those words awakened Silas’s memory.
The plan had produced the exact disaster Felicity feared.
Camille placed the seating chart on the table.
“I am sorry, Jenna.”
Jenna nodded.
The apology did not erase what happened, but it mattered that someone had chosen truth over convenience.
Felicity stepped toward Camille.
“You work for me.”
Camille removed the wedding headset from her ear.
“Not anymore.”
The guests watched as she placed it beside the microphone.
Another person had stopped obeying Felicity.

Another piece of control disappeared.
👉 The seating chart proved the humiliation was planned, and Adrian was now ready to ask whether the marriage itself had been planned the same way.
