Chapter 25 - Back Under the Trauma LightsJenna returned to St. Catherine’s four days after the wedding.

Evelyn suggested she take more time.

Jenna refused.

The emergency department did not care about ballroom scandals.

Monitors continued beeping.

Ambulances continued arriving.

Families continued asking whether someone they loved would survive the night.

Jenna changed into navy scrubs and tied back her hair.

Within twenty minutes, a patient arrived after a construction accident.

The young man’s blood pressure was falling.

His wife stood behind the trauma-room glass, pressing both hands against her mouth.

For one second, Jenna saw Silas three years earlier.

Then training took over.

She organized the transfusion.

Caught a medication error before it reached the patient.

Noticed swelling that suggested hidden bleeding.

The team moved quickly.

The patient reached surgery alive.

Afterward, Jenna found his wife in the hallway.

“He is still fighting,” Jenna said. “So we keep fighting too.”

The words had not changed.

Neither had the reason she chose nursing.

At the end of her shift, Jenna found Silas waiting near the reception desk.

He wore no tuxedo.

No authority.

Only a dark overcoat and an uncertain expression.

“I did not want to interrupt.”

“You have been sitting here for three hours.”

“I wanted to understand.”

Jenna looked through the glass doors toward the emergency department.

“Understand what?”

“Why you came back so quickly.”

She smiled faintly.

“People still get hurt after weddings collapse.”

Silas nodded.

“I brought a proposal.”

Jenna sighed.

“If it is a reward—”

“It is not.”

He handed her a folder.

On the cover were five words:

The Hale Trauma Nursing Initiative.

Jenna stared at her own name.

May you like

This time, no one else had opened the envelope.

👉 Jenna returned to the work Felicity mocked, and Silas’s new proposal would turn one stolen fellowship into opportunities for hundreds of nurses.
