Silas became still.
Adrian looked at her.
“What are you talking about?”
Felicity reached into a hidden pocket in her gown and removed her phone.
She held it tightly.
“Your father paid people to keep details out of the press.”
Silas did not deny it.
Adrian’s accident occurred after a private company event. Silas had protected medical information and removed photographs taken by hospital visitors.
Felicity smiled through her fear.
“I have messages. Documents. Names.”
Silas’s voice remained calm.
“Where did you get them?”
“Richard kept copies of everything sent to the house.”
Jenna turned toward her father.
Richard looked horrified.
Felicity had collected family secrets as insurance.
She had not merely built a romance.
She had prepared leverage.
Adrian stared at her phone.
“You planned to blackmail my family?”
“I planned to protect myself.”
“From what?”
“From this.”
She gestured toward the ballroom.
“From all of you deciding I was not good enough.”
Jenna finally stepped into the aisle.
“No one decided that tonight.”
Felicity glared at her.
“You did.”
“I did not speak until you publicly humiliated me.”
“You existed.”
The answer revealed the deepest wound.
Jenna’s existence reminded Felicity that something valuable had been stolen.
No amount of wealth, flowers, or applause could make the foundation legitimate.
Silas extended his hand.
“Give me the phone.”
Felicity held it against her chest.
“No.”
Adrian looked toward the officers providing private security near the ballroom entrance.
“Preserve every device. No one deletes anything.”
Felicity’s eyes widened.
She had expected threats to restore control.
Instead, they created another investigation.
Richard stood suddenly.
“We are leaving.”
Jenna faced him.
“You are not taking evidence with you.”
Her father stared at her as though seeing a stranger.
