Chapter 19 - Dad finally learns Rachel lied to him
Dad had participated knowingly in pressure.
But Rachel had also lied to him.
She told him Daniel had “basically approved” the larger refinance.
He had not.
She told Dad the side business debt was about $45,000.
It was almost double.
She told him the remaining proceeds would create emergency savings for Noah.
No significant portion had been formally allocated for Noah.
When Dad’s attorney showed him the voice memo and debt statements, he asked to speak with Daniel.
Daniel refused for two months.
Then agreed through a mediator.
Dad said:
“She lied to me.”
Daniel answered:
“You still hit Rebecca.”
“Yes.”
That mattered.
Dad tried again.
“I thought I was helping your family.”
“You still hit Rebecca.”
Dad cried.
My brother did not rescue him from the sentence.
Eventually Dad said:
“Yes.”
