Chapter 7 - The tablet video
Police obtained the original birthday recording from Noah’s tablet with Daniel and Rachel’s legal counsel involved because the device belonged to their household and contained a child’s data.
The video was not perfect.
It began forty-two minutes before the cake fell because Noah had set the tablet up to record clips for Daniel.
Mostly children screaming.
People walking in front of the camera.
Half the frame blocked by balloons.
But the critical sequence was clear.
Rachel approaches me.
We speak.
Audio captures:
“You’re not even going to look?”
Then later:
“Are you going to sign the paper?”
My refusal.
Her statement:
“Daniel already knows.”
Then the shove.
My body moves forward before I can plant the crutch.
No ambiguity about whether I simply tripped.
The camera angle shows both her arms extending.
Then Dad ripping the crutch from me.
My leg folding.
The strike.
One.
Not multiple.
The crutch hits my shoulder and glances near my temple.
My:
“Dad… stop.”
Rachel:
“She deserves it.”
Then Daniel entering.
The tablet did not record every angle.
It did not need to.
Dozens of witnesses existed.
The video authenticated sequence.
