Hotel inventory records found something investigators initially missed.
Two glasses had been removed from our table within ten minutes of the confrontation.
Mine was preserved.
The second belonged to Vanessa.
Her white-wine glass.
A server cleared it automatically after security moved guests back.
Contents discarded.
Glass washed.
No testing.
Why did it matter?
Vanessa’s attorney argued:
She may have intended the sedative for herself and accidentally handled both drinks.
The destroyed second glass made that theory impossible to disprove chemically.
For a week I thought the case was collapsing.
Then Nora remembered:
Vanessa never carried her wine toward the service station.
Only my sparkling water.
