Chapter 17 - Lily draws the envelope
Children sometimes communicate more clearly when adults stop demanding complete sentences.
Lily’s therapist gave her paper.
No investigative prompting.
Just drawing.
Lily drew:
A tall glass.
Vanessa.
A little rectangle.
Then a large blue circle around something on the rectangle.
The therapist did not interpret.
Police later showed Lily several neutral images of common household packaging under controlled conditions.
She identified a pharmacy-style paper dose envelope as looking similar.
Again:
Not proof alone.
Then investigators searched Vanessa’s trash records from her condo building.
Impossible to recover ordinary garbage weeks later.
But her pharmacy used individual paper packets for some refills when she traveled.
