Chapter 23 - The plea
After evidentiary rulings went against several defense arguments, Vanessa negotiated.
She pleaded to a felony offense related to administering medication without consent and a separate coercion-related count connected to her conduct around me and Lily.
Other proposed financial charges were dismissed or not pursued.
She received:
A custodial sentence measured in years, not decades.
Suspended additional time.
Probation.
Mental-health treatment.
No contact with Lily.
Restitution for certain medical, investigative, and counseling expenses where legally appropriate.
No mansion transferred to me.
No $50 million judgment.
No cinematic collapse.
Just consequences.
She addressed the court.
“I never intended to kill Graham.”
I believed that.
Then:
“I thought if he stopped resisting every conversation, we could become a family.”
That sentence told me she still had work to do.
