I refinanced the house and bought out his property interest after accounting for other assets.
Why keep it?
At first, I didn’t want to.
Meadow surprised me.
“This is my house.”
“You want to stay?”
“Yes.”
“What about the stairs?”
She looked at them.
“I’m not giving Dad the house.”
Children invent ownership theories family court would never recognize.
Still, we stayed.
Changed paint.
Replaced runner.
