One document proposed replacing Claire as beneficiary of several family trusts if she were declared mentally incapacitated.
Another contained a prepared statement announcing that Daniel Bennett had independently defrauded the company.
Richard intended to blame Daniel publicly, seize temporary control, and leave the country if the plan failed.
The luggage also contained a handwritten timeline.

The sentence “Daniel controls domestic response” appeared beside the week Claire was injured.
When Daniel saw a photograph of the timeline through his attorney, he finally understood the role Richard assigned him.

Daniel requested a meeting with prosecutors.

His new defense attorney advised cooperation only if it reduced exposure.
Daniel offered access to Richard’s offshore accounts.

“He will testify against Richard.”
“Will he admit what he did to me?”

Claire looked toward the dark city beyond the windows.
Even now, Daniel separated fraud from violence.

“They will listen. They are not promising anything.”
Claire nodded.

But she would not allow his usefulness to erase her injury.
The medical report, officers, photographs, and his own words remained separate evidence.
The following morning, Daniel entered an interview room.
He described Richard’s plan.
He identified offshore accounts.
He named executives.
Then the prosecutor asked why Claire was injured.
Daniel looked down.
“She would not stop asking questions.”
The sentence was recorded.
