Without it, Sarah might have been blamed for Lily’s fracture.
The video proved David placed the fragment inside the cast.
Pierce had recorded procedures because he feared David.
He had also performed them.
Pierce reset Lily’s second fracture without reporting abuse.
Applied the cast.
Installed the tracker.
Forged Dr. Lawson’s signature.
Continued Elena’s medication.
Changed children’s diagnoses.
Allowed Sarah to enter the casting room under guard.
He claimed every act kept the children close enough for eventual rescue.
The prosecutor displayed the invoice for Lily’s cast.
Pierce billed Halcyon three times the standard amount and accepted a “compliance bonus” after she stopped trying to run.
“Did fear explain the payment?” the prosecutor asked.
“No.”
“Did David force you to buy the lake house?”
“No.”
“Did Claire force you to falsify nine fracture reports?”
“She threatened my daughter.”
“When did your daughter move safely overseas?”
“Four years ago.”
“Why did the records continue?”
Pierce looked toward the jury.
“Because by then I believed outside authorities would close Grayhaven and return children to dangerous homes.”
“You believed only you could determine which fractures deserved reporting.”
“Yes.”
That belief became the center of the case.
Pierce had treated genuine injuries and sometimes prevented David from worsening them. He also turned medicine into concealment.
Emily Carter testified about the cast saw.
“When he entered Exam Room 4, he raised the same tool used for treatment as a weapon to reach the evidence cabinet.”
Pierce’s attorney argued Emily had struck him first with an IV pole.
“She placed herself between him and a six-year-old child,” the prosecutor replied.
The jury convicted Pierce of aggravated child abuse, medical fraud, unlawful restraint, conspiracy, evidence tampering, assault, and participation in the Grayhaven identity network.
He was convicted of reckless contribution to the Riverton deaths because he manufactured the chemical weakening agent while knowing Halcyon intended industrial use.
He was acquitted of intentional murder. Evidence did not prove he knew David would sabotage Section 17 that night.
Pierce received decades in prison and permanent loss of his medical license.
His cooperation and recordings reduced certain counts. His professional authority increased the sentence.
At sentencing, Sarah spoke.
“You heard my daughter crying while you wrapped the cast tighter.”
Pierce began to explain that David stood beside him.
Sarah stopped him.
“I know who stood beside you. I asked what you heard.”
Pierce answered:
“Lily.”
Marcus submitted no statement about Anna’s death. He had treated Pierce’s shoulder in the tunnel despite anger and did not want that medical encounter turned into personal moral credit.
The court possessed the evidence.
Pierce surrendered the formula used on Riverton bolts. Independent laboratories confirmed the chemical residue inside Lily’s cast matched material recovered from Section 17.
The physical chain was complete.
Eight deaths could finally be prosecuted as homicide.
Before David’s trial, Pierce identified the Halcyon executive who approved the formula.
Graham Halden.
The founder’s death certificate had been signed by Dr. Julian Pierce.
Pierce admitted Graham never died.
“He said a dead chairman could protect the company better.”
The network had not continued without leadership.
