Chapter 22 - Rosie and the round marks
The marks disappeared within days.
The memory stayed longer.
Rosie became afraid of suction toys.
A bath toy with a suction base made her cry.
We removed it.
Her therapist did not force exposure.
Months later Rosie found one of those toys at a friend’s house.
She stared.
Then touched it.
Nothing happened.
At five, she asked:
“Do circles mean Aunt Bethany?”
“No.”
“Sometimes.”
“Yes. Sometimes your brain remembers that.”
At six, she forgot to ask.
That was how healing often looked.
