“So he could not spend it yet?”

“Then why move it?”

David had increased Sarah’s policy six months earlier.

The same company that would control Emma’s trust.
The investigator enlarged a signature page.

Sarah closed her eyes.

“Can we recover the money?”
“Yes, but we need the final beneficial-owner documentation.”
“Where is it?”
“We believe David stored it outside the house.”
Sarah remembered something.
The lemon-cleaner bottle that fell during the confrontation.
David had insisted on purchasing that exact brand despite rarely cleaning anything.
He replaced it every month, even when nearly full.
Sarah had once seen him remove the label and smooth it back into place.
“Search the cleaner bottle,” she said.
