Chapter 7 - The Forged SignatureParamedics stabilized Sarah’s leg while the detective examined the cracked phone.

The bank alert contained no readable details from across the room, but Sarah gave permission for the device to be secured as evidence.
David stood near the hallway under an officer’s watch.
Margaret sat at the wooden table, suddenly composed again.
The detective introduced herself as Lena Morales.
“Sarah, did you authorize any transfers from your inheritance account?”
“No.”
“Did anyone have access to your banking credentials?”
“My husband knew some passwords. Not the verification code.”
David interrupted.
“She approved the investment.”
Detective Morales turned sharply.
“No one asked you.”
Margaret folded her hands.
“Sarah has always been forgetful under stress.”
Robert’s voice remained on the emergency line.
“My daughter is not forgetful.”
One paramedic cut the lower leg of Sarah’s dark trousers to examine the swelling.
The injury was severe but closed.
No exposed bone.
No blood.
Still, the shape of her leg made Emma cry again.
Sarah reached toward her daughter.
“I’m okay, baby.”
Emma crawled beside her and held her hand.
Detective Morales received a message from another officer searching the home office.
He entered carrying a laptop and several printed documents.
“We found transfer authorizations in the desk.”
David’s shoulders loosened slightly.
The detective reviewed the first page.
Sarah’s name appeared at the bottom.
Her electronic signature.
Her trust identification.
Her authorization code.
Everything looked legitimate.
Margaret’s smile returned.
Sarah stared at the documents.
“I didn’t sign those.”
David shook his head sadly.
“You don’t remember because you were drinking.”
Sarah turned toward him.
“I don’t drink.”
Margaret pointed at the shattered wineglass.
“There was wine all over the floor.”
“It was yours.”
“Can you prove that?”
Detective Morales looked toward the evidence phone.
“If the recording uploaded, yes.”
The phone’s light stopped blinking.
The upload had completed.
Sarah’s father spoke.
“The signature will not protect them. That account requires a biometric confirmation David does not know about.”
David’s eyes widened.
Sarah looked at the speaker.

She had not known about it either.
👉 Robert had built a hidden safeguard into the inheritance account, and it was about to identify who forged Sarah’s approval.
